NASSIM

Written and Performed by Nassim Soleimanpour

An audacious theatrical experiment that explores the power of language to unite us in unknown, uncertain times
Performed by a different actor each time, who has neither rehearsed nor seen the script, asked only to come to the performance without knowing anything about the content or role. This is the set-up for the unique “White Rabbit Red Rabbit,” which has been performed in theatres in over 45 countries around the world. It was written by the Iranian-born and Berlin-based Nassim Soleimanpour, who has now created this new play “NASSIM” out of the experience of seeing his work translated in over 25 languages and staged internationally, but never in his native language of Farsi.

Once the show starts, the actor on stage speaks and does things guided only by the writer’s instructions. The communication between them relaxes and evolves, at times involving interaction with the audience. But lying underneath this apparently innocent exchange is an exploration of the power of words and the link between language and identity.
