An adventure story found among the rifts of body and language
Educated at Waseda University (a famed breeding ground for theatre artists), Kishodai Kageyama formed sons wo: in 2008 in order to present his theatre work. It constructs a "mechanical theatre" expunging the continuity of actors' speech and bodies, and showcases Kageyama's unique linguistic sensibility that is alive with imagery. "Stray's Collar" takes as its theme travelling and homecoming, using the genre of the adventure story to depict our lives spent on a disquieting journey, uncertain where our roots lie. This then forms a doorway to a space for thinking where space and body and language reflect on each other.
