A digital exploration of humanity, cities and memory
Tara Tan is an interaction designer who has been working since 2007 and here explores memory and editing through multi-channel video screens, live performance, evocative soundscapes and a real-time Twitter feed. "CLOUD" is a mixed media performance installation about memory and the city, delving into the ways we remember, and what we lose in the ways we forget. Tan sees the human brain as the encoding and recording of memories, which then forms a digital server which can be accessed anywhere through a network. Although originally recording events in the brain in their entirety, a "memory" is saved as data through the result of sifting and editing via our perspectives. Is a city then a separate "cloud" of such aggregated, ungraspable personal memories?
