A playful partnership of dance and stage design

This is a very unusual partnership of playful dancer and choreographer Hirokazu Morikawa and leading stage designer Itaru Sugiyama. Morikawa has previously created dialogue between the physical and the visual on stage with his series of dance works using white A4 paper, while Sugiyama works regularly with many of Japan’s major theatre artists. This experiment promises to be both fun and determined, a frolicking interaction between Morikawa’s body, the space, and Sugiyama’s design. Sometimes the elements face off, collide and clash. Sometimes they unite, sometimes dismantle each other. The teaming up of dance and space opens up new dance frontiers.
