A sci-fi melodrama inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky
Masataka Matsuda has spent his career exploring language and memory, and now he turns to the cinema of Andrei Tarkovsky for a collaboration with Ishinha's Yukichi Matsumoto for a radical and disturbing challenge to our notions of narrative and theatre. In a seemingly post-apocalyptic world a guide and their family enter a restricted area where people go to be reunited with the dead. Inspired by two of Tarkovsky's iconic films ("Stalker", "Solaris"), this is formidable partnership of two Japanese theatre veterans.
