The biennial dance festival returns, transforming Aoyama for ten days!

This is the seventh Dance Biennale Tokyo, which launched in 2002. It features a diverse program of six dance performances and related exhibitions closely linked to music and language, staged at Spiral Hall and other venues.

This is the latest dance by Physical Theatre Company GERO, formed by Kim Itoh in 2015. Focusing on the family unit, it vividly reveals family relations as things, people and words fly all around.

The long-awaited revival of a dance much discussed and staged since its premiere in 2011

The debut in Japan of an internationally acclaimed Czech dance company

Stripped of their freedom and the power to decide things for themselves, the seven dancers wearing shoes nailed down to the floor are locked in a desperate battle with their own shadows, accompanied by a live performance of modern minimal music by a clarinet quartet. This is the first appearance in Japan by VerTeDance, the Czech dance company that has won the highest accolades at performing arts festivals around the world.
