Performing Arts Festival launching from Tokyo

F/T12 Emerging Artists Program Open: Call for Entries / 公开征集项目 / 모집요강
Bert Neumann, one of the most influential stage designers of the German-language theatre scene, has, with his unique style looking deeply behind the facade of today's urban spaces, given many outstanding performances of the last 20 years an unforgettable "face". Applying images of suburbs, urban blight and cheap glamour, he sharp-sightedly questions the ideas of happiness and salvation that capitalism conveys.
It was previously planned for Modern Table to stage "Awake" and "Darkness PoomBa" (choreography, music: Jaeduk Kim) at the Owlspot Theater on November 7 (Mon) and 8 (Tue), as part of the F/T11 Emerging Artists Program. However, due to the wishes of the company it has been decided instead to stage "Awake" with "Joker's Blues".
The five jury members named below will view all performances of the "F/T11 Emerging Artists Program" and award a prize to the outstanding work and artist. The award-winner will then be invited to present his/her work - the award winning performance or another work - at F/T12.
Applications for the "F/T11 Emerging Artists Program" are being
accepted from December 14, 2010. At present, we have already received
many applications from Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Indonesia and
other Asian countries. The deadline for applications is January 23,
2011, 24:00. For young companies, this program offers the chance to
present their work in the frame of a platform that is aiming to raise
attention not only in Japan, but also among other Asian countries.

Performers for the Japanese version wanted!
The performance of Jerome Bel's "The Show Must Go On" in Japan will
be co-presented by Festival/Tokyo 11 and Saitama Arts Theater. This work
created a stir in the European theatre world by radically questioning
the principles of stage dance. After it's premiere in Paris in 2001, it
toured more than 50 cities all over the world and has in the meantime
become a part of the repertoire of the Lyon Opera Ballet. In 2005,
Jerome Bel won a Bessie Award (New York Dance and Performance Award) for
"The Show Must Go On". The piece gathers men and women of different
ages and occupations who perform extremely well-known pop songs that
almost everybody feels familiar with, on stage.
We are currently seeking performers for the Japanese version of "The
Show Must Go On". Stage experience is not required. Desirable are people
of different nationalities, ages and looks.
Don't miss the unique opportunity to participate in this piece that is
highly acclaimed by theaters and festivals worldwide and has
revolutionized the dance world.

F/T recently organized a special orientation event for foreign audiences in Tokyo who wanted to learn more about the month-long interactive theatre piece, "The Complete Manual of Evacuation".
Akira Takayama's work starts online, where audiences go to a special website, hinan-manual.com, to access a map based on Tokyo's circular JR Yamanote Line. By choosing a station you then get a map for where to go to visit a special location ("Evacuation Point") in the area.
