Home / F/T11 F/T Emerging Artists Program / KUNIO "Angels in America, A
Gay Fantasia on National
Themes"

Summary

Based in Kansai, KUNIO's Kunio Sugihara creates work based on existing playscripts. In 2009 he staged the
Tony- and Pulitzer-winning masterpiece by Tony Kush-ner, "Angels in America: Millennium Approaches" and
now after much anticipation turns to part 2, "Pere-
stroika". At its premiere at the Kyoto Art Center it was
given a honorable Performing Arts Award 2009 and
now the two-part complete work, with a total running
time of over 8 hours, is much anticipated.
