Nandang Aradea, leader of Indonesia Theatre of Studio and F/T13 Participating Artist, has died

It is with great sadness that we announce the news that Nandang Aradea, the leader of Indonesia Theatre of Studio and director of "Overdose: Psycho-Catastrophe", which is participating in Festival/Tokyo 2013, suddenly passed away on October 12 (Saturday) due to a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. He was 42 years old. We offer our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Surtitles & Performances for International Audiences

Regardless of how much Japanese you understand or whatever language(s) you speak, there are plenty of performances that non-Japanese audiences an enjoy at Festival/Tokyo 2013.

Audiences with questions about language issues regarding the performances or other events as part of F/T13 are invited to inquire with the F/T Ticket Center by email or by visiting the F/T Station.

Kinoshita Kabuki, Shigeki Nakano + Kaku Nagashima: Titles announced

As announced in our previous initial release of F/T13 details, the upcoming Festival/Tokyo this autumn will see the first participation by Kinoshita Kabuki and Shigeki Nakano + Kaku Nagashima. Both their productions' titles have now been announced.

Port B, "Referendum Project" & "Kein Licht II" at the Wiener Festwochen

From May 10th, Port B and director Akira Takayama is taking part in the Wiener Festwochen in Vienna with two works inspired by the Tohoku disaster, "Referendum Project" (first seen at F/T11) and "Kein Licht II" (first seen at F/T12).

Port B and Akira Takayama will be presenting their work as part of the "Unrest of Form - imagining the political subject" program, a series of collaborations between the Wiener Festwochen, Secession, Akademie der Bildenden Künste and MuseumsQuartier. Under the concept of "parcours" the curated group exhibition traverses stage and visual arts, featuring participants such as Tim Etchells, Tino Sehgal and Rabih Mroué.

F/T13 Emerging Artists Program: Final Line-Up

Thank you to all the companies and artists who applied to take part in the Emerging Artists Program during Festival/Tokyo 2013.

A shortlist was selected from the entries and announced after the first round of assessment. Following a second process of internal evaluation, the following nine participants were chosen for the final program line-up.

Shortlist Announced for F/T13 Emerging Artists Program

The F/T Emerging Artists Program is a unique platform supporting the work of new Asian performing arts companies and artists.

Following an application period from December 10th, 2012, until January 31st, 2013, 137 entries (74 from Japan, 63 from other areas of Asia) were received for the 2013 program.

We have now announced the shortlist of candidates to be selected!
