Announcement on Administration of Festival/Tokyo & the Director

With the approval of the Festival/Tokyo Executive Committee, the Festival/Tokyo Executive Committee Office will be implementing a new administration system from the 2014 fiscal year.

Accordingly, Sachio Ichimura, currently Chairman of the Executive Committee, will become the Director, with current Program Director Chiaki Soma departing her position at the end of March 2014.

Festival/Tokyo was created in February 2009 and has been held six times under the directorship of Chiaki Soma. It has attracted attention from around the world as a festival aspiring to create new values for the arts, and has grown to be an international performing arts festival that represents not only Japan but also the whole of Asia.

In the future the festival will further deepen its ties with other festivals and theatres around the world, as well as create a more open festival structure.

An official announcement will be made at a later date with more details about the new administration for F/T14 and the festival program.

We hope for your continued support in our endeavors.
