Assessment Process
Continuing on from last year, entries from Japan and elsewhere in Asia were chosen using the same methodology, and with selections conducted in two stages.

First Round of Selections
The first round of assessment was conducted using the application materials (application form text and publicity videos), with a final selection made of 23 artists and companies (14 from Japan, 4 from China, 1 from India, 1 from Korea, 1 from Singapore, 1 from Thailand, 1 from Taiwan).

Second Round of Selections
The second round assessment was conducted via interviews and viewing video footage of previous productions. Applicants were assessed as to whether their projects were created based on original ideas and engaging with problems, and whether there was an artistic methodology that reflected their engagement with the problems. Further, applicants were also assessed based on the output of their previous artistic activities (including performance results and external criticism) and whether they possessed a future vision.
